Welcome to College Assistance!  My name is Chris Christian and I am a College Consultant based in the Colorado Springs area. I have assisted over 900 Pikes Peak area students in the “Going to College” process; first as the International Baccalaureate Counselor at Palmer High School (where100% of my students attended college) and then as a College Consultant (since retirement in 2005).

When considering hiring a College Consultant, three questions should come to mind.

1. Why should I hire a College Counselor when Colorado Springs’ high schools provide free college counseling? 
      •   I limit the amount of students that I work with to 30 students per year while most school counselors have              350 students or more.  This allows for a more personal and individualized experience.
      •   I only provide college counseling services that are geared towards the student individual needs.
      •   I provide all of my college counseling services in your home at a time that is convenient to your family.
When I worked in schools I found that I stood in front of the classroom and told students what to do.  Now I work directly with the student to select appropriate college and guide them through the application process.

2. What is the cost for this service?
The College Search/College Application package costs a little more than you would spend on one out-of-state college visit (flights for the student and 1 parent, car rental, 2 nights hotel, and food).  Choosing to visit colleges where the student is a "good fit" can actually save the family time and money on costly college visits to schools that a student is not likely to be admitted, not likely to experience academic success, or ones that they will not “fit in.” The fact is that 85% of the money that is awarded for college comes from the colleges themselves. Carefully choosing colleges to put on your “Apply List” can put you into the best possible position for scholarship consideration. It is a fact; the majority of my clients are offered scholarships that are many times what they pay for my fee. I am happy to forward my fee packages to prospective clients and to provide references with past and present clients.

3.  Why should I choose this particular consultant and what results has he had?
When evaluating any professional you need to judge their results.  Last year I worked with 10  students with the College Search/College Application package.  Those students were offered  $1,121,000 in scholarships and 9 out of 10 were admitted to their first choice school.  These students had a total of 48 acceptances and 8 denials.  Look at the “Admission Results” page for a more detailed breakdown of these statistics.
