Welcome to College Assistance! My name is Chris Christian and I am a College Consultant based in the Colorado Springs area. Having been a high school college counselor, I have assisted over 900 Pikes Peak area students in the “Going to College” process. My credentials include having been the International Baccalaureate Counselor at Palmer High School (where100% of my students attended college), and District Department Chairman for Counseling in District 11. After retiring from the school system in 2005 I started a college consulting service; College Assistance.
When considering hiring a College Consultant, three questions should come to mind.
1. Why should I hire a College Counselor when Colorado Springs’ high schools provide free college counseling?
I limit the amount of students that I work with to 30 students per year while most school counselors have 350 or more students. I only provide college counseling while the school guidance counselor duties include scheduling, staffings, testing, inter-personal counseling, etc. I provide all of my college counseling services in your home at a time that is convenient to the student and their family. When I worked in schools I found that I stood in front of the classroom and told students what to do. Now I work directly with students to complete the college identification and college application tasks.
2. Why should I choose this particular consultant and what results has he had?
I encourage you to judge me by my record! Look at the "Client Comment" and "Admission Results" pages on this website. I encourage you to be the judge my knowledge and record.
3. What is the cost for this service?
My "full package" service cost a little more than what you would spend on one out-of-state college visit (flights for a student and one parent, car rental, 2 nights in a motel, and food). Choosing to apply to colleges where the student is a “good fit” can actually save the family time and money on costly college visits to schools that a student is not likely to be admitted, not likely to experience academic success, or one that they will not “fit in.” The fact is that 85% of the money that is awarded for college comes from the colleges themselves. Carefully choosing colleges to put on your “Apply List” can put you into the best possible position for scholarship consideration. It is a fact; the majority of my clients are offered scholarships that are many times my fee. I am happy to forward my fee packages to prospective clients and to provide references with past and present clients.
I thank you for visiting my website and I hope that many of your initial questions will be answered by browsing my website. I offer a free series of e-Articles regarding the “Going to College” process and encourage you to register for that service. I would like to set an appointment with your family to discuss how I can be a value to you.
Sincerely,

Chris Christian, College Assistance
